When does lengthening a gold chain cost money?
Lengthening a chain means adding a segment of the corresponding weave, an additional loop, or a diamond block, so gold and labour are required – this is charged only according to the weight of the materials. You can choose the length of the chain exactly as you need for your requirements or occasion, as different lengths pair perfectly with various clothing styles and occasions. Our pricing is transparent: we provide an exact estimate before we start, and the work itself takes from three to five days.
Two lengths – one chain jewellery piece with pendants
Upon request, we can solder an additional, barely noticeable loop at one-third of the chain’s length. This creates two official lengths. Do you like mixing and matching with other jewellery pieces? You will be able to wear the pendant shorter on a jumper or longer with an open neckline, without changing the chain itself.
This option increases the versatility of chains and allows for easy mixing of different styles.
How does the service work?
- Send or bring the chain with the purchase receipt – all work is carried out in our jeweller’s workshop.
- Specialists measure the circumference of the neck: a convenient formula is the neck + 5 cm for everyday wear, + 8 cm, if you like mixing with other jewellery pieces. Chain length adjustment is suitable for both women and men, depending on individual needs.
- Shortening – we remove unnecessary links, renew the polishing and the rhodium layer, if the chain is white gold.
- Lengthening – we add a segment of identical weave, solder it in a vacuum chamber without air bubbles, and later smooth the chain so that the seam is invisible.
- Free safety check: we check the clasp (lobster clasp or spring ring) and the soldered seams.
What do we accept?
- Gold chains with diamonds – we accept gold chains of various weaves, such as Venezia, Rolo, Figaro, Anchor, and Snake. We also accept chains with pendants, including various pendants.
- Men’s chains 50–60 cm (Anchor, Curb): we shorten for free, lengthen for the cost price of materials.
- Chains with a sliding bail (sliding bail) – we add an additional loop without changing the balance of the pendant. Chains with a pendant can also be adjusted. Pendants can be of various shapes and sizes, making the service suitable for many jewellery pieces.
Frequently asked questions about gemstone jewellery
Will the work alter the sparkle of the diamonds? No. We protect diamonds with a thermal insulation compound and clean them in an ultrasonic bath after soldering; we renew the rhodium layer for free.
Can a tennis necklace chain be shortened? Yes, but we shorten such a jewellery piece only in the inner back zone so that the repetition of the stones is preserved. The timeframe is up to five days. We have all the necessary materials and tools, so we can complete the service within the specified time.
What if the chain was repaired elsewhere? The guarantee applies to the original construction. If a third-party artisan has already changed the length segment, we will offer a paid adjustment.
